Sourcing yarn for new designs at Scheepjes HQ.

My name is Sarah and I’m a ‘multi-craftual’ knitter and crocheter, occasional spinner and newly-converted sewist. I write about all of these things (and more) on my blog.

I’ve been blogging at Crafts from the Cwtch (which rhymes with ‘butch’) since 2011, when I first started knitting. At that time I was at home with two pre-schoolers and we had just moved, so I didn’t know anyone in the area. Knitting and blogging saved me from boredom and loneliness by giving me a creative outlet and access to an online community of lovely crafters. Many of my real-life friends today are people I met this way.

I publish new posts on Crafts from the Cwtch around three times a week including patterns, reviews and tutorials. I hope to encourage people of all abilities to experiment with their crafts and expand their skills. With this in mind, I love to feature other makers and host regular ‘make-alongs’.

It was probably inevitable that I’d start designing because I like to do things my own way, and am not very good at following instructions! Although it was never my plan, these days I spend as much time designing as writing articles I work on design commissions, publish patterns independently on Ravelry and also post free patterns on my blog. I have a preference for making (and wearing) uncomplicated accessories which can be worn in different ways, and this is reflected in many of my designs.
