HR & Payroll Manager

Part time,  Permanent
Salary:     £30,000 equivalent full time (adjusted to £21,000 - £25,000 per annum based on 25 - 30 hours per week)
Location:  Leamington Spa, Warwickshire

We are looking for a HR and Payroll manager to join our team.

Wool Warehouse is an exciting relatively new business which has seen rapid growth since its start 8 years ago, however we are proud to have kept our family friendly ethos.
Based in Leamington Spa we sell a vast range of wool, knitting and craft products to customers via mail order. We also have a small showroom for counter sales.

Previous experience within an HR & Payroll Management role is essential. CIPD level 5 qualification is desirable. You must have an enthusiastic personality and be willing to learn.

In return we offer a friendly environment, regular appraisals and a staff discount. In addition to this you will be entitled to 28 days holiday per annum and Company Health insurance/EAP

This position is part time 25 – 30 hours per week to be worked over 4 or 5 days (negotiable)


Role:                                         HR and Payroll Manager
Reporting to:                             Managing Director
Supervisory Responsibility:      HR Assistant

Job Purpose:

The HR and Payroll Manager will be responsible for the following:

· Supporting existing managers & supervisors with managing HR queries and issues

· General HR administrations tasks such as new starters and leavers

· Maintaining sickness absence records including Bradford factor scores

· Attendance management including disciplinary interviews

· Recording and authorising all Annual leave using the Leave planner online system, setting limits depending on workload/staffing levels

· Processing monthly payroll accurately including overtime calculations

· Processing company pension scheme and payments using NEST

· Using SAGE Line 50 to record payroll and pension payments

· Managing SSP and maternity/paternity payments

· Managing end to end recruitment and selection process

· Arranging and participating in interviews

· Managing internal promotion and progression/development

· Organising staff training and development

· Maintaining all Health & Safety records, policies and training

· Maintaining & updating company handbook, policies and procedures to reflect legislation changes

· Carrying out grievance and disciplinary procedures

· Maintaining and organising staff appraisal system

· Organising staff social events and rewards/gifts

· Attending monthly management meetings and taking minutes

· Implementing Health and wellbeing initiatives and strategies

Person Specification:


    · At least two years' experience within an HR role   
    · Strong understanding of processing payroll
    · CIPD qualification an advantage
    · Excellent interpersonal skills

    · Bachelor's (Preferred)

    · Self-motivated, with a highly organised approach to work – be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work to deadlines
    · Excellent interpersonal skills – be approachable, professional and fair
    · A team player, who is willing to help out in other areas of the company when needed
